I move spontaneously through various mediums of expression, as I am artistic and entrepreneurial. In essence, I have a passion for creativity in a vast array of interest. Creating this beauty magazine/blog has called upon many areas of my skills as a photographer, digital artist and writer. I rely on emotional intelligence to succeed, as if constantly sampling delights in a candy store. And through this venue, I have the opportunity to share what I know and to be of service in helping uplift each one in some way, to recognize the beauty in themselves and the world at large.
I was born in the Philippines and I worked in television at age ten, appearing after school for tapings of me giving the schedule of shows in a network for young viewers. Uncle Bob, as everyone knew him, an American who owned Channel 7, took me under his wing after I said hello to him outside the TV station. That opened up my world and made my boring academic school life at St. Theresa’s bearable.
At fifteen, I became the youngest instructress at the Karilagan Finishing School. I won the beauty title of Miss World Philippines [Mutya ng Pilipinas World] at seventeen, also winning the Miss Talent award at the Miss World Pageant held in London in 1978. I sang my own composition on guitar, got offered a recording contract which I turned down, for fear of losing my title while living in London and not being able to fulfill my obligations back in the Philippines.
Thereafter, I modeled in Asia, wrote children’s books after my children were born, published and recorded original music that went up the charts in the US, and then moved on to tackle interior design work for personal purposes. I built and designed homes that landed the covers of various magazines, chaired and sponsored numerous charity events and then created women’s accessories that sold internationally. I now spend my time traveling, photographing landscape and fashion portraiture, winning myself a few awards along the way.
I also write poetry and wish to get back to film school, after having gone to the New York Film Academy in New York, three years ago. I am almost bicoastal, hoping to live on the east coast, six months out of the year. I currently live in San Diego, California where the weather is consistent and the beauty is of sprawling hills in Rancho Santa Fe and of beaches in Del Mar and La Jolla. For the city life, I love traveling to New York, which I do often.
I believe that each of us have our own treasure boxes of resources, and my driving force is simple. I like to create and recognize as much beauty in this world and to co-create with my God and be of purpose. Whether by a simple reminder, a story I must share, photographs, videos or movies that fill your eyes with color, and your heart with joy, instilling awareness and inspiration to keep you moving in this one life we are gifted with makes me feel I am doing the same for myself. To breathe life is our first and greatest gift. To breathe beauty is my gift in return.
I am a mother to grown, happy and successful children, a friend to amazing women, an advocate of truth and a soldier for the one who has exemplified resurrection under any circumstance. I am of Christ and love is my religion.
Thank you for reading about me.
You look amazing inside out and this made an inspiration at least, to encourage others out there that we can be all we ever wanted to be. Keep up the good works and continue to make love your religion.

EQ: Emotional Intelligence beats IQ any day. This is what I live by too. Many people can be smart, but many may not have the emotional intelligence to navigate the tides when things get rough.
It’s so wonderful that you are aware of the difference! It is instinct based on truth. Thank you, Debra, for your beautiful and wise comment.
