I’ve been an advocate, a fan, a buyer of Gucci for many, many years.  But never have I been so touched by a fashion house with gratitude.  Last year, this same time, I received an invitation for a fully paid, first class flight (for two) with accommodations (two rooms) at The Peninsula, New York, for a three days holiday extravaganza.  All courtesy of Gucci!  Who does that?

New York city was already lit up with lights and the spirit of Christmas was no doubt, already in the air.  I arrived to flowers, gifts, chocolates, and a schedule of events that spelled love, thanks, friendship, romance.  I fell more in love with the brand.

This wasn’t just customer service.  This was a love affair.  A relationship of many years.  Closing the skating rink so we can glide with Olympic skaters. Cocktails and private dinners at esteemed restaurants plus the best seats and intermission parties at NYC Ballet’s The Nutcracker.  What did I miss mentioning?  Private shopping parties with champagne cocktail breakfast at the store, our own cars and drivers, at any given time.  GG is for Gucci and Generosity!

Jaïm Zimmerman, Kelsey Tarrant and Louvette Fowler at a private champagne breakfast shopping event at Gucci, on 5th Avenue, New York.

I took my son’s girlfriend, Kelsey with me.  I had promised to take her to The Nutcracker in San Diego, but the best seats were all sold out.  When Gucci came in with their schedule, it was clear–I had to take her with me.  And so for all of my joys and pampering from the power house of fashion, Kelsey received the same.  Grace comes unassumingly, surprisingly, mysteriously.  It was to my complete benefit.  My own wish of taking her to the ballet was granted–in New York!

And through all the years, Gucci has sent unrelenting tokens of appreciation.  Flowers on Mother’s Day.  Gucci labeled moon cakes for Autumn festival. And best of all, a regard for my comfort, never pushing for sales and happily making sure of my satisfaction with their products.  Of course, there is Junko Cain and Sanford Lee of Gucci, Honolulu, who have been there for me– forever.

The very first charity event I chaired was also sponsored by Gucci.  Two hundred fifty people, all gifted with Gucci gift boxes, congregated at my Honolulu home for a High Tea on The Sweetest Day with fashions flown in for fall.  Benefiting the St. Francis Hospital for the first nuclear probe that measured heart rate in heart transplant patients, the brand was there for me and beyond me.  That was twenty five years ago.

Today, my memories are enriched with their consistency– a reliance that never fails.  So even if the styles have changed to include a broader market, and some of Alessandro Michele’s presentations may shock, I’m still a Gucci girl.  I join the Gucci gang in their comfortable styles today of sassy, furry, Princeton mules, easy midi skirts and colorful ensembles that say, “It’s ok to be yourself. It’s ok to be elegant, beautiful and be comfortable, all at once. ”

With special thanks to Gucci Directors, Managers and Sales Executives:  Sylvie Cilli, Ana Flavia Leibowitz, Sanford Lee, Junko Cain, Jaïm Zimmerman, Keila Tyner and Toan Mach– for all the joys.
